I've got a soft spot for Endless Space 1, it's old and janky, but it had a certain level of charm. It also loads quite fast even on relatively large maps! It's quite similar to the grandfather of all these games Master Of Orion 2, but with a new lick of paint! Quite simple but very enjoyable! (It's the first MOO2 game that I actually ended up liking.) If you want my suggestion for a good game for someone new to the "sub-genre" then look up Stars In Shadow. Which in some respects is nice as you can focus on the bigger picture stuff with the knowledge that everything else is running just fine without your involvement.Įndless Space 1/2 and Galatic Civilisations 2/3 is classic space based 4x, had to really go wrong with them. If anything OP Stellaris only looks complicated, but is actually kinda sorta shallow once you have everything figured out. I'm not sure the AI in that game is very clever, but the game is fun enough as it is for building a fairly complicated empire with a while bunch of stuff you can mess around with! Reminds me of Distant Worlds in a way with all the designer stuff you can do! I think Space Empires 4 is a bit more stable then 5, but you do you!
